This edition of Commentary focuses on understanding the world in order to see it transformed by the gospel. Dan Strange and Kirsty Birkett tackle the very disparate ideas of progress and reincarnation, which we need to understand if we are to minister to those who have been bewitched by these different mythologies. Mike Ovey looks at the apparent demise of the ‘secularisation’ theory, which has been and still is hugely influential on how our world sees religion.
Pete Snow and Dave Baldwin reflect on why the effort of learning is worth it in terms of time and effort, while Graham Beynon (page 29) takes us to an understanding of ourselves as he examines the hold our culture has on us through our love of money.
