Brad Bitner

Bradley J Bitner, BA, MAR, PhD
Director of Learning, Teaching and Assessment
Tutor in New Testament, Greek and Biblical Theology

Brad holds a PhD in Ancient History (New Testament and Early Christianity) from Macquarie University, Sydney, where he also tutored in New Testament and Greek.

His first book, Paul's Political Strategy in 1 Corinthians 1:1-4:6: Constitution and Covenant (Cambridge University Press, 2015), looks at the gospel privileges and gospel architecture underlying divinely approved church work and challenges assumptions related to the category of 'leadership' in Christian ministry. Currently he is co-editing New Documents Illustrating Early Christianity, vol. 11: Ephesus (Eerdmans, with JR Harrison) and preparing a book on the biblical theology of Geerhardus Vos.

A native of the USA, before coming to Oak Hill Brad was English pastor at the Greek Evangelical Church of Boston, a school teacher, and an ordained ruling elder in the Presbyterian Church in America. He now worships and serves on the Kirk Session at London City Presbyterian Church. He enjoys equipping students to engage with the Greek text of the New Testament, to understand the scriptures as the unfolding drama of redemption and to love and trust the Lord Jesus more fully as their only redeemer and mediator.

Brad and his wife Kathi have seven children, including two sets of twins. Together they enjoy nature walks, making music and reading. He writes a personal blog, Gathered flowers.
