Christopher Stead

Rev'd Christopher Stead, LLB (Hons), MTheol
Mike Ovey Research Fellow, Tutor in Doctrine and Church History, PhD student

Chris practised as a chancery barrister before coming to Oak Hill as an ordinand. Under the tutelage of various lecturers, but especially the late Mike Ovey, Chris developed a passion for systematic theology as a discipline that helps God's people define and defend the gospel, proclaim the comfort of the gospel's God for the good of the church, and worship God for who he is and what he's done.

Following a London curacy, Chris took up the position of Mike Ovey Research Fellow at Oak Hill. Chris, as Mike did, believes that a wide-ranging theological literacy, informed by and informing a vital spiritual life, is essential for all those who minister to be the best possible gift to the church.

Chris's teaching responsibilities include the doctrine of God, and justification. He is a PhD candidate at the University of Aberdeen, working under the supervision of Prof. Paul Nimmo, in the field of Christology.

Two of Chris's children are in the immediate care of their heavenly Father, a reality that has brought home the immensely practical benefit of the doctrine of God; and Chris and his wife Abi have the joy of looking after their other two little girls. Chris enjoys spending time with his family and friends, nice food and drink, and is currently figuring out how to 'enjoy' going to the gym.
