Ordination training
Our wholehearted commitment is to provide candidates with good theological foundations and the best possible practical training for full participation in the Church of England, with its breadth of different traditions and theological perspectives.

Secure foundations

Whatever else is said about full-time ministry, from a New Testament point of view, it is all about enabling missionary congregations by pastoring through teaching. Effective pastoring opens the scriptures to individuals and congregations, enabling them to respond to God and his will in every sphere of life. Oak Hill gives a high priority to training students as expository preachers.

Understanding the Bible and how it fits together is a major undertaking and takes a lifetime of study. Candidates for ordination need time to acquire the right skills in biblical exegesis and theological reflection. They need to engage with the key issues in biblical interpretation, historical study, systematic theology and all the other disciplines that help us apply God's revelation to our context today. At Oak Hill, our overriding aim is to provide this essential foundation.
